Several pints and glasses raised now over 20 years and countin' The Tossers keep getting better and better! Like other previous albums 'The Emerald City' is yet another truely amazin' piece of work by the Celtic punk 'n rock band hailing from the south side of Chicago. The talented six member band orchestrates an original Irish infused soundtrack perfect for any lassie or lad. All 14 tracks are outstanding in their own way. From songs about the drink look no further and check out the first track "The Rover" followed by "Here's To A Drink With You". If ya continue to want more of that toe tappin' upbeat style then check the lyrics found in the likes of 'drinkin' whiskey, whiskey, whiskey all night long, whiskey, whiskey until the "The Break of Dawn" & "Where The Beer And Whiskey Flow" you just can't go wrong. If yer into more story tellin', crafty, poetic ballads then how 'bout "Emerald City" which may be considered the first single (music video out by Victory Records) alongside "St. Patrick's Day". "The South Side of Town", & "Johnny McGuire's Wake" are gems as well . As of now, my current favorite track "Wherever You Go" clocks in as the longest tune found on the album at 5:02 min., ya won't overlook Tony Duggins brilliant ranting lyrics found throughout that tune. I also really like how each band member demonstrates their own musical genius throughout this album, it's far from your typical mush, this is one heck of an exceptional album! Other highlights include "USA" and "God Bless You". To the traditional instrumental "The Fermoy Lasses and Sporting Paddy" to the super short half minute "Bombo Lane" found right in the middle of the album is quite like an interlude tune done in the rhythm of 'Monto' me thinks. While closing things out, the track "Sláinte" is a damn good anthem that makes you wanna repeat the entire album for yet another round!
