Scarlet broke up in 2000, having only released an EP, Breaking the Dead Stare. The reunited band's initial studio work resulted in the release of this six-track EP, designed to keep fans happy until the album comes out. Metalcore fans won't be disappointed: Something to Lust About achieves escape heavyosity almost immediately and never lets up; the songs are short and fraught and have a disturbing tendency to conflate the erotic and the necrotic. Fun? No. Compelling? Maybe. The full-length album should give us more to work with.
