Keith Harling's debut album Write it in Stone is an engaging, neo-traditional honky tonk record that suggests Harling is as talented a songwriter as he is a vocalist. He has a nice, laid-back delivery and a rich timbre; similarly, his songwriting is effortless and natural. He wrote six of the songs on his debut, and the best of them match the professional tunes he sings on the remainder of the album. There are a few weak moments, but overall, Write It in Stone is a first-class debut.
