Over the past five years, T&S has been working closely with Benjy Melendez, founder of the Ghetto Brothers, gathering music, photos, and anecdotes that illustrate the story of one of the most influential east coast gangs/organizations of the 1970s. In anticipation of Truth & Soul 's deluxe re-issue of The Ghetto Brothers record, Power Fuerza, which will be available late 2012, T&S is releasing one last single taken from the original LP. The newest 45 is presented in a handsome picture sleeve featuring a rare photo of Benjy Melendez at the Ghetto Brothers clubhouse circa 1970. Side A, Got That Happy Feeling, is a perfect representation of the Ghetto Brothers sound. Benjy and the GB's were heavily inspired by The Beatles, Grand Funk Railroad, and Ray Baretto, which all come through in this classic track. Side B, Girl From The Mountain, is a mid tempo ballad that is more folk that funk, but is still sounds tough as nails. This artfully designed and re-mastered single is the perfect introduction to the anomaly that is the Ghetto Brothers."
