By the time of Pendulum's release at the end of 1970, Creedence Clearwater Revival was the biggest-selling rock band in the world, coming off seven consecutive Top 10 hits. Their sixth album, Pendulum, was markedly different from the band's earlier work, finding CCR branching out sonically. The band, typically known for guitar-driven songs, experimented with styles and textures, introducing horns, keyboards and even a choir into the songs (Pendulum contains the band's only Avant-garde track, 'Rude Awakening #2'). Pendulum also contains several classic hits, including 'Have You Ever Seen the Rain' and 'Hey Tonight,' which both went straight to the top ten in 1971, and remain classic rock radio mainstays to this day.
