Calvin Keys' second album follows pretty much the pattern of his debut, Shawn-Neeq, but with just a bit less urgency. The basic components are the same: some post-bop, a lot of blues, and a lot of the funk side of fusion. In Miles Davis' terms, it's more Jack Johnson than Bitches Brew. Calvin's guitar lines are a model of efficiency. Rather than over-playing, he just looks for the right groove, and accompanied by some electric keyboards and well-arranged horns, the group operates like a well-oiled machine.
